Have you ever had an old song come into your head out of nowhere, and then you can't remember who sung it?
Well, my dear hubby is something of an expert on 50's music, and this song just jumped into his head yesterday, and he can't remember the singers!! I listened to him singing the lyrics over and over all day long, as he was hoping it would come to him.
I even tried searching for it on the Internet, and the only information I could find there was that Nappy Brown was the singer. But, no, the voices DH is hearing in his head is a female group. It was so common during that era for different artists to cover each other's songs, that it is quite possible that he is correct, but we can't find a thing.
Could someone please help him solve this mystery, so I don't have to listen to piddily patter patter over and over all day long today, too? LOL

Thank you, chench, for going to the trouble to find the Amazon link. That is definitely the song, but it's sung by Nappy Brown.
White groups covered Black performer's songs way back then, in the Deep South at least, because "white" stations wouldn't play "black" music. Sometimes those were just regional groups, so we may never know who he's hearing in his head.

I did a little research, armed with your info, and found this piece about Nappy Brown. Many Black artists had their works covered by "safe" white artists, but it's a crime they didn't get any money out of the custom!
