Goofus Glass - What IS it?

In doing research for one of the items we recently acquired from an estate, I ran across this excellent site about Goofus Glass. This gaudy glassware is pretty easy to spot, but also easy to fake, so the information on this site is invaluable.

Goofus Glass Dish with Lid Grapevine Pattern
Because the color was painted on in a cold paint process, it washes off and peels off quite readily. That means that genuine pieces of Goofus Glass with the color intact are very rare and are highly collectible.

I do know that it is a grapevine pattern, which is a very common pressed glass pattern. There is no maker's mark of any kind that I could find, so learning more about this dish turned out to be nearly impossible.

I'm also not sure if it's a sugar bowl or a covered candy dish. Any opinions?

I would vote for candy dish; if it were a sugar bowl, it wold have a little notch on the side for a spoon, maybe?

That makes sense! I'm planning on asking the person who bought it what they think it is, and if it really is Goofus. I'll let you know what they say.
